Terminals, transport and parking at JED

Checked 5 Oct 2026

Terminals

Terminal 1, the airport's main terminal, was officially inaugurated by King Salman on 24 September 2019. Arab News, citing the airport's website, gives it 46 boarding gates, a total area of 810,000 square metres and room for around 30 million passengers a year.[1],[2]

Terminal 4, the redeveloped former South Terminal, began phased operations on 27 September 2026, adding capacity for up to 15 million passengers a year. The airport also has the North Terminal and the Hajj and Umrah Terminals. King Abdulaziz International handled a record 53.4 million passengers in 2025.[3]

Airlines moving to Terminal 4

The airport operator, Jeddah Airports Co. (JEDCO), plans to move all foreign airlines now at the North Terminal, and selected foreign airlines at Terminal 1 and the Hajj and Umrah Terminals, to Terminal 4. The first phase, from 27 September 2026, moved Wizz Air, AJet and SalamAir.[3]

JEDCO's schedule for the following week: Fly Jinnah from the Hajj and Umrah Terminals' B3 facility and Nesma Airlines from the North Terminal on 28 September; Akasa Air from B3 on 29 September; SyrianAir and Pegasus from the North Terminal on 1 October; and Azerbaijan Airlines and Tunisair two days later. More airlines are to follow, so check the terminal on your booking before you travel.[3]

Getting to and from the city

The airport has a station on the Haramain High Speed Railway, connected to Terminal 1. Saudi Gazette described it in December 2019 as a six-storey, 99,000-square-metre station with ticket vending machines and electronic gates, linking the airport with the Haramain train network to Madinah.[4]

An express bus, run by the Jeddah Transport Company with Jeddah Airports Company and SAPTCO since April 2022, links Terminal 1 and the North Terminal with the SAPTCO station in Al-Balad. Stops on the way are near Flamingo Mall on Prince Majed Street, near Al-Andalus Mall, and Baghdadiya 7 on Madinah Road. In February 2023 the fare was SR20; tickets are sold at points inside the airport and in the SAPTCO app.[5]
