Qatar Airways sells Economy fare families with different flexibility and seat-selection rules, so the lowest displayed fare is not always the same product as a more flexible Economy ticket.

For Qatar Airways Economy fares, the airline's trade guidance lists Economy Lite as the least flexible family, with no changes or cancellations, while Economy Classic permits changes for a fee and Economy Convenience includes one free change before fees apply.

Seat selection can also change the real trip cost. Qatar Airways publishes optional seat-selection charges, including standard-seat charges for Economy Lite and higher fees for preferred, extra-legroom and Comfort+ seats.

Passenger rights on Qatar Airways depend on the departure country, arrival country and the regulation attached to the itinerary.

For flights covered by EU air passenger rights, Qatar Airways says passengers delayed for at least two hours at departure are entitled to assistance such as drinks, meals and communications, with hotel accommodation and transport where necessary depending on the flight distance and delay length.

If a covered flight is delayed by five hours or more at departure, Qatar Airways states that passengers are entitled to a refund; once that refund option is accepted, the airline does not have to provide further onward travel or assistance for that itinerary.

Eu delay assistance

EU-covered flights delayed by at least 2 hours at departure may qualify for assistance including drinks, meals, communications and, where necessary, hotel accommodation and transport.

Eu five hour refund

EU-covered departure delays of 5 hours or more may qualify for a refund; accepting that refund ends Qatar Airways' obligation to provide onward travel or further assistance.

U.S. refund timing

For eligible U.S. ticket or ancillary-service refunds paid by credit card, Qatar Airways says it submits the refund request to the card issuer within 7 business days of receiving the request.

For flights from the United States, Qatar Airways says online check-in opens 24 hours before departure. For flights to the United States, check-in opens 24 hours before departure from Doha.

For other Qatar Airways flights, online check-in is available from 48 hours to 90 minutes before departure. Airport cutoffs can still vary by airport, destination and document checks, so travellers should follow the time shown in the booking and arrive earlier for long-haul international departures.
